Addressing Enforcement Challenges: CBP's Updates to the ACE Entry Type 86 Test for Low-Value Shipments

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has updated its notice regarding the ACE Entry Type 86 Test, which allows low-value shipments to be entered using a new type of informal entry in the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE).

The changes to the notice are in response to enforcement challenges, such as the importation of illicit substances, counterfeits, and goods made with forced labor.

The deadline to file entry type 86 has been changed from within 15 days of arrival to prior to or upon arrival. The notice also clarifies that only certain regulations are waived by the test and the consequences of misconduct by participants.

Additionally, the notice includes stylistic and structural changes to improve clarity.
